The Village Ōmokoroa
Ōmokoroa
This startling home is is an excellent example of Prolam products in action.
We approached Bob Burnett Architecture to find out more.
What can you tell us about this project?
Inspired by a 1909 Bungalow and traditional Japanese architecture, the owners had a clear brief for a timeless, enduring home strongly connected to the mature landscaping enclosing the site. The sloping stone, timber cladding and sweeping roofline ground the building while the engawa (verandah) invites the seasons changing colours inside from the garden, further enhanced by the light-toned, double-height rooms that reflect light deep inside. Japanese inspired, light filled interiors create a relaxed stately feel.
Why did you specify Prolam products in this project?
We love wood and wherever possible try to avoid steel.
What Prolam products were specified?
Glulam beams and laminated posts
How are the Prolam products been used in this project?
They were used as roof beams mid span to support CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) roof panels which form the warm roof and as verandah beam.
