NZIA Approved Glulam Training Module

Find out how the latest, most innovative engineered timber products can support you to bring your design visions to life in one, information-packed training session.

Glulam structural timber posts, beams and portals are fast becoming the preferred choice for contemporary building design and construction, prompting Prolam to work with the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) to develop a training module to provide Continuing Professional Development for architects.

Prolam's Managing Director, John Woodman said sharing knowledge of the properties, advantages and applications of glulam and working with architects to achieve their design goals was an important part of Prolam's approach.

"With the NZIA’s support, we are thrilled to be able to help architects grow their knowledge and confidence in designing structural timber elements with our glulam products," John says.

"I'm constantly inspired and motivated by the results we achieve in collaboration with architects and it’s always a buzz to see our products used in some really stand-out  residential and commercial building designs."

Able to be delivered in-person or online, the interactive session covers a range of technical and practical information including:

  • How glulam timber is manufactured
  • The strength, structural integrity and dimensional stability of glulam
  • What makes glulam timber a more sustainable choice
  • Prolam product innovations
  • How to design structural timber elements using the Prolam Specifier
  • Case studies showcasing Prolam products in residential and commercial projects.

John recently conducted a training session for Irving Smith Architects in Nelson.

"The team were enthusiastic to learn about the latest glulam innovations and I was able to answer a lot of their questions about designing, specifying and building with glulam,” John says.

“They also appreciated the opportunity to dig a bit deeper into why glulam is such an effective structural timber solution and explore the design possibilities.”

John and the team are looking forward to conducting more glulam training sessions over the coming months. If you would like to book a CPD session, give us a call on 03 526 7436 or send us an email.
