"We chose Prolam because we wanted a product which was inherently stable and reduced the risk of warping and twisting" says Summerset's Architectural Designer Kevin Hagen. "It was also cost efficient and achieved the look we wanted. The 'kitset' approach was an attractive option as it allowed us to streamline the build on site and help minimise the impact on our program."
Prolam used their software to design specific beam sizes that would span the dimensions of the pergola and complement the strong look characterised throughout the village.
The beams were then manufactured in a factory-controlled environment which provided additional advantages for the project says Kevin. "This gave me confidence in the product's quality and consistency across the village and meant the install on site was very quick and simple."
All in all it was a very successful project. Kevin sums it up: "the product looks great, the feedback from the installers has been positive and our residents are thrilled with the end result."
